Amparo | Trailer

The Match Factory has released the trailer of Simón Mesa Soto’s Amparo.

Playing at Cannes Critics’ Week, this co-production Colombia, Sweden, Germany and Qatar is set in the late ‘90s and follows a single mother who struggles to free her teenage son after he is drafted by the army and assigned to a war zone. She is thrown into a race against time in a society ruled by men, corruption and violence.

Simón Mesa Soto studied Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad de Antioquia. After finished the MA in Filmmaking at the London Film School, his graduation film Leidi won the short film Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2014. He returned to Cannes in 2016 with another short, Madre.

Amparo is his debut feature film.
