The first trailer has been released for writer-director Haider Rashid upcoming Europa, which follows a migrant that is captured by Bulgarian border police but escapes, finding himself to search for a way out in a seemingly interminable forest.
For three days and three nights Kamal must fight for his life through a journey of survival until a final life-or-death confrontation.
Born in 1985 of mixed Iraqi and Italian origins, Haider Rashid films have won awards at Venice Film Festival (No Borders, 2016), Dubai International Film Festival (The Deep, 2013) and the Nastri d’Argento award ceremony (No Borders, 2016).
Europa is set to world premiere at Cannes in Directors’ Fortnight (July 7-17).
