‘Titane’ wins top Cannes honor

Spike Lee announced the winner of the Palme d’Or early on, but that didn’t bother Julia Ducournau, who became the second woman to win the Palme d’Or award after Jane Campion (The Piano, 1993).

The Grand Prize went to Compartment Number 6 by Juho Kuosmanen and A Hero by Asghar Farhadi. Leos Carax (Annette) took home the direction prize, while Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s “Drive My Car” won for best script.

The Jury Prize went to Nadav Lapid’s Ahed’s Knee and Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Memoria. Caleb Landry Jones (Nitram) was named best actor and Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) took the award for best female performance.

Finally, the Golden Camera award went to Musrina, while the Palme d’Or for short was given to Yi Tang for Tian xia wu ya.
