Clooney and Sandler Star in Noah Baumbach’s ‘Jay Kelly’ as First Trailer Drops

A first teaser trailer has been unveiled for Noah Baumbach’s latest film, Jay Kelly, ahead of its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on August 28, where it will vie for the Golden Lion.

The film follows Jay Kelly, a movie star played by George Clooney, during his appearance at a film festival in Italy. Adam Sandler plays his former agent, who accompanies him on the trip. The cast also includes Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Grace Edwards, Riley Keough, Jim Broadbent, Stacy Keach, Greta Gerwig, Emily Mortimer, Patrick Wilson, among others.

Emily Mortimer co-wrote the screenplay with Baumbach. The two first collaborated during the making of Baumbach’s 2022 film White Noise, also produced by Netflix.

Jay Kelly is Baumbach’s fourth film for Netflix, following The Meyerowitz Stories (2017), Marriage Story (2019), and White Noise (2022). It also marks the first time George Clooney has worked with Baumbach as a director, although Clooney previously collaborated with Baumbach as a co-writer on Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009).
